The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is the world’s leading dance examinations board.
The ISTD is a registered educational charity providing training and qualifications for dance teachers and covering the full spectrum of genres from Ballet to Ballroom.
Zoe is a registered and qualified ISTD dance instructor teaching graded classes in Ballet, Tap and Modern Dance.
Zoe enters students into annual examinations where her children have achieved a 100% pass mark with all students receiving A-B grades.
Classes in ISTD Dance can be found on the Timetable page.
Ballet is the basis of all dance and we encourage all our pupils to include a ballet class in their weekly timetable.
Our classes follow the ISTD Imperial Ballet syllabus which develops a strong technique combined with development in musicality, expression and co-ordination, all of which are essential parts of classical training to become a strong performer. Students start classes at Pre Primary age and continue to work through the grades at their own pace and can complete annual exams if appropriate.
The new ISTD Tap grades encourage a greater understanding of cultural world music and rhythms combined with teaching a more relaxed style of tap technique compared to the previous dated style of tap.
Students will progress through the grades gaining an extensive knowledge of Tap vocabulary, whilst becoming strong rhythmical tap performers.
Our Modern classes follow the ISTD syllabus, which incorporates many different styles including Lyrical, Jazz, Martha Graham and Cunningham contemporary.
Modern is based on natural movements: walking, running, jumping and skipping which is developed through the grades into more technically challengingly sequences with leaps, turns and kicks. Modern classes help develop flexibility, stamina and strength.
